Camp lake birthday hike - July 2021

Dylan’s birthday is July 16 and mine is July 20 so we usually celebrate together. This year we decided to hike to Camp Lake in the Three Sisters Wilderness. It’s an alpine lake at the foot of the volcanic mountain Middle Sister. We drove an hour from our house to Pole Creek Trailhead, which sits at 5,000 feet and hiked the 7 miles to the lake, at 7,000 feet. The first four miles of the hike was through a forest devastated by a huge forest fire in 2012. It made for a hot and dusty start and finish to our 14 mile hike. We were all over it by the end (especially dougie) but we made it and loved the beautiful lake and the amazing experience. We live in the most beautiful place!!!
