The Trailer's Maiden Voyage - July 2021
After seeing one in every other driveway here in Bend, Dylan and I caved and got a travel trailer! We've always loved tent camping but it's really challenging with the girls. We decided our little 21-foot Mallard Pathfinder was the way to go since it checked a lot of boxes. 1. It fits in the driveway at our house. 2. It has a queen bed and two single bunk beds for the girls. 3. Our Tundra can tow it 4. It's small enough to go to most non-RV campgrounds as well.
We took it out this weekend for its maiden voyage and it was awesome. We went up to the Little Fawn campground on Elk Lake because it't only 30 minutes from our house so we figured we could always go home if it was a disaster. The campground is dry meaning it doesn't have any RV water or electric hookups. We filled up the water and propane tanks and made sure the two batteries were fully charged and off we went.
We ended up having the best time! Well, minus Ellie Monster, who has been in fine toddler form lately making sure we all know she's soon turning two. Unlike Naia, Ellie loves to run away from us every chance she gets. So the whole time we camp, it's running after her through the campsite, down a trail, down the road, etc etc. And then screams and cries as we carry her back to the trailer. I am very ready for this phase to pass. We'll just keep doing our best and trying different distraction methods until then. Other than that, we ate hot dogs and went swimming in the lake, and had a big cuddle party in the morning when we woke up. It was lovely. We go on a longer trip to the beach this weekend. Wish us luck!!
