Eastern Oregon Road Trip - Labor Day Weekend 2021

We took the trailer on a late summer road trip over Labor Day weekend to Eastern Oregon. First stop was at a hot springs RV resort in La Grande. It was a nice, well kept camp ground full of old cranky people lol. We got in trouble for having an outdoor rug, being too loud in the hot pools, and for letting Dougie run off leash on their giant field. But the girls had a great time riding their bikes and playing in the pools.

The best part of our trip was visiting my parents farm in Joseph, Oregon, which they very sadly decided to sell. This trip was our goodbye to a very special place. It's about a 6.5 hour drive from Bend in the far northeastern corner of the state. They own 10 acres set against the Eagle Cap Wilderness, the biggest wilderness area in Oregon. To say it's stunningly beautiful would be a massive understatement. It was a lovely and special visit with grandma and grandpa.

Washing (and eating) vegetables from Grandpa's garden

We went on a little hike with the girls to Hurricane Creek.

Ellie eating a freshly picked strawberry in front of the chicken coop my mom converted into a tiny house vacation rental.

Swimming in the irrigation creek. This is on the edge of their property by an old apple orchard and we saw lots of fresh bear scat!

My parent's beautiful house and a peek of the garden.

I always kick this guy's butt in cards when we go camping.

Sometimes you just need to go on a walk in your bathing suit.

My parent's gorgeous old barn.

We spent an afternoon at Wallowa Lake, a lake carved by an ancient glacier near my parent's house.

Not all of our 12+ hours in the car on this road trip was this peaceful.

Super dad!!

The "I'm sick of smiling so this is what you get" smile

Gotta love chilly mornings at the campsite.
